North Arm shooter takes Presidents

Three times national Queens Prize winner Colin Cole was in fine early touch winning the Presidents Match at the 2015 Australian Rifle Championships at Belmont.

Colin, a member of the North Arm Rifle Club, won the two-day lead-up event as the only shooter in a top class field to miss just two bullseyes in the 70 shot contest for a score of 348 with 38 centre bulls.

His hot streak continued into the Queens Prize shoot with a possible 50 with 7 centres at the first 300 yard range on Friday morning.

The National Queens. which Colin last won in 2007, has drawn a field of more than 180 shooters from around Australia with a strong contingent from New Zealand.

The winners will be decided with the final 900 and 1000 yard ranges shot on Sunday morning.

 

Queensland shooters also took out the three divisions of the Presidents Match in F Class scope rifle competition.

Craig McGowan from Brisbane dropped just one shot in winning F Open with a score of 419 with 42 centres.

Gemfields Rifle Club member Nick Williams won the F Standard and Shane Green from Cairns the F Class Target Rifle.
