A celebration of 45 years of the Queensland Ladies Rifle Team has been part of a big QRA Queen’s Prize week at Belmont.

The Queensland team has been in action since the inaugural championships in 1967 and is enjoying success in the modern era winning the last two national titles.

More than 50 women have been in the Queensland team over the years with a number attending a reunion on the eve of the Queens when a museum display was opened.

A one-off Ladies versus Gentlemen match was named in honour of Lizzie Savage, the winner of the first ladies fullbore match in Australia in 1901. The Gentlemen gave no quarter, scoring a convincing 249 to 241 win over 600 yards.
