Damien scores his first Open at Beaudesert

Damien Earl from Pacific Rifle Club in Brisbane came out on top in a tight A Grade tussle at the Beaudesert Open Prize Meeting on Sunday.

 

There was some high scoring from the big field in good weather conditions with three possible 150s in the competition shot over 300 yards and 500 yards twice.

 

Damien, who has only been shooting for three years, secured his first Open win with 19 centre bulls.  He plans to trial for the Queensland team next month to shoot an interstate match at the NSW Queens in September.

Mirko Teglasi from Brisbane Rifle Club was a close second at Beaudesert with 16 centres bulls ahead of Southern Downs shooter Rob Bondfield with 14 centres.    

 

Byron Hucks from Albert and District Rifle Club won B Grade and Reece Campbell from Pacific the C Grade.    

 

Beaudesert shooters Tony Berry and Brett Knudsen were in outstanding form in the F Open scope competition with Tony just edging Brett 179.10 to 179.9.    

 

Ernie Mace from Brisbane Central won the F Standard A Grade.    

 

The next Open Prize Meeting will be hosted by Ipswich Rifle Club, this Sunday, July 28.
