QRA members were in good early form at the 43rd National Rifle Championships at Belmont.

They filled second to fifth placings in the two-day President’s Match behind the winner Peter Thurtell from Wingham, NSW who shot a possible 350.45.

The lead-up match to the National Queen’s Prize was held in conditions conducive to high scoring.

 

Brisbane Rifle Club member Geoff Grosskreutz dropped a single shot to finish in second placing on 349.34.

Three shooters were grouped on 348, two shots down, separated by single centres – Gillian Webb-Enslin from Pacific took third with 40 centres, Colin Cole from North Arm fourth with 39 and Ashley Bidgood, Crows Nest-Goombungee fifth with 38.

Heather Jamieson from Mungindi won the President’s B Grade and Robert Howie from Ipswich the C Grade.

Josh Reid from Ipswich F Standard B. The F Open title went to Brisbane’s Craig McGowan and Jason Mayers from Brisbane Central won the F Class Target Rifle.
