Ray Edbrooke Life Member Ipswich & District Rifle Club

In recognition of his long standing contribution to target shooting, Life Member of the Ipswich and District Rifle Club, Mr Ray Edbrooke was jointly nominated for a 2013 City of Ipswich Australia Day Award by both the SSAA QLD and the members of the Ipswich and District Rifle Club.

Week after week, year after year on the Stewartdale Target Sports Complex at South Ripley, Ray unceremoniously and inconspicuously does his bit to help both clubs operate.  Without wanting to draw attention to himself, Ray has helped with weekly range setup, acted as a Range Officer, a Safety Course instructor, a coach to anyone and everyone, a contributor to club events and even in his mature year’s, he remains one of the hardest workers when it comes to volunteering his time to mow and whipper snip the range.

Ray’s story, like many others that we recognise within the rifle shooting movement, is an inspiration to any member who seeks the self-satisfaction that can be derived from such active engagement.
