·        Range Closure.  As many would be aware, the range is closed for the construction of a tank and pipeline as part of the Recycled Water Project.  The closure affects all QRA ranges on week days except for the Zero Range, which can still be used.  It is still uncertain how long this closure will be but it is likely to be until at least June.  The National Queens will not be affected.

·        Butts Officers.  Based on the advice received from the NRAA, the QRA Board has decided that Butts Officers does not need to be members of QRA.  They need to be deemed competent and appointed in writing by the Club or the organisation conducting the shoot.  If the Butts Officer is paid, they become an employee and therefore the organising body is responsible take out WorkCover insurance.  If they are not paid they are covered by the provisions of the NRAA insurance policy as a volunteer range official.  We are sure that this decision will make it easier for DRAs and clubs to operate.

·        Country V City Teams Match/Champion of Champions.  It is planned to introduce a Country versus City Teams Match with the inaugural event being held at Belmont on 6 April 2008.  This will involve open, ladies, Under 25 and F Class teams.  It is also intended to conduct the Champion of Champions Championship on 5 April.  The proposed programme is:

Sat AM           Champion of Champions 10 shots at 300, 600, 900, 1000

Sat PM Practice at 500 in conjunction with the MDRA shoot

Sun AM Teams Match at 300/600/900/1000

·        Queens 08.  It has been decided to promote the introduction of an F Class Standard DRA Teams Match, which would be held with the traditional DRA Teams Match.

·        Domain Space.  Recently club representatives have discussed the development of club websites.  QRA is able to offer space to host club websites on the QRA website.  The domain host fee would be $99 per year and would be paid by the club which would be saving to the club compared to normal domain registration fee.  The club creates their own pages and uploads them remotely from a home computer, once the initial set up is done by QRA’s ISP.  By using this system we would project a corporate image as the site name would be www.xxrc.qldrifle.com.  If any clubs wish to take advantage of this offer, please call Meredith at the Office to discuss.

·        Email Addresses.  We would like to expand contact with members via email.  If individual Club members wish to receive this Newsletter by email, please send your email address to the Executive Officer QRA.  If you have previously notified an email address but have not been receiving news lately, please confirm that the Office has the correct address.
